I Fit

After over a month of photos, outfits & writing, I've been giving thought to what types of things I want to focus on as we evolve Full of Fabulous. One of the key areas that's emerged for me is how at my (our?) age I fit into the world of fashion and fashionable people.

I carefully chose to say 'I fit' over the idea of 'I don't fit'.

I'm incredibly tired of the idea of fashion for a demographic, be it age, gender, identity or size.

All fashion is cyclical. Fashion preferences grow and adapt.

10 years ago, I was obsessed with polka dots, could only afford to shop at a few inexpensive stores and the options were incredibly limited. So much has changed.

With the world opening up to international shipping, body diversity and changing trends my passion for fashion expanded as did my career and ability to afford well fitted pieces that I feel better represent my shape and ever evolving style.

What stays the same? I'm still wild about pattern. Polka dots became leopard print for me about 4 years ago and it's representation in so many clothing lines means at times my wardrobe almost seems to repeat itself. The fabric and cuts are endless so my addiction to the fun of the animal print is constantly fuelled.

In order to keep current and enjoy it, I want to push myself into different ways of incorporating the pattern and pieces I already own. Try different looks, new colour trends, and mixing it with other patterns! This might be, as my mom would say 'a lot' for some. I'm going to dispel the myth right now that anything we wear is too much, isn't age appropriate or only for one gender or size. I will also be repeating this message. A lot.
