Safely Wild

I've realized lately that while I often combine new items and trends with older pieces in my closet, I still rarely think outside the box when it comes to my outfits. When pursuing all my usual online scrolls, I'm delighted by wild colour combos, splashy patterns and even better is the culmination of all that wonderful into one stunning outfit!

So why do I play it pretty 'safe'?

Ok so the elephant in the room is that I'm saying this while knowing that my wardrobe, as is, would push many outside of their comfort zone. I get a lot of comments about being brave or folks wishing that had the courage to wear the colours or combinations I do. What I'm trying to say is that I've always played with colour and dopamine dressing, so I want to push that further!

I typically wear this handmade linen dress (purchased at an art market) with a black turtleneck and black leggings. It's chic and funky. The colours work well together and it's flattering. I feel well put together.

But it's a wild colour. It deserves a bigger moment with it's beautiful craftsmanship and structure! So I tried to think outside my box.

I made the dropped collar a bigger statement with an infinity scarf that I always want to wear but also always forget I own. Because this green colour is strongly on the yellow side, the scarf helps with how my skin reflects yellows and usually makes me look slightly ill. The striped stockings felt a bit safe still but funky enough that the dress is still the focal point.

I considered a statement necklace but it clearly would've been lost and probably look awkward. Overall I think it's fun enough to earn the tag of wild, but probably still playing it relatively safe.

What would you add?
