What To Wear

I’m not sure if anyone will relate to this type of experience but I simply can’t imagine I’m the only one.

I suffer from generalized anxiety and when an event or gathering is planned, that anxiety kicks in. But that’s pretty common for those of us with anxiety disorders. Here’s the part I’m not sure others relate to - I immediately start thinking about what to wear.

Regardless of the event, how far away it is, or if I’m over the moon with excitement, I will be anxious until I have an outfit in mind that I feel is right. Well, it can’t just be right, I have to feel like it meets certain criteria.

Is anyone still with me?? Is this at all relatable?!

Maybe the criteria will help.

The criteria:

  • It has to fit comfortably
  • I have to feel confident
  • Venue/Weather appropriate (might seem obvious but historically speaking I haven't always hit this one!)
And depending on the event, I either need to feel like I’ll blend in OR that I look so good I shine.

What happens once the outfit is chosen? A calmness washes over me. A feeling of satisfaction that allows me to focus on enjoying the day, knowing I feel good. It feels deeply tied to my situational confidence.

This outfit was carefully chosen to celebrate a very special event - my Grandma Oda's 100th Birthday! It's a special day with a local twist celebrated at the amazing Royal Hotel in downtown Picton. I thought this was the perfect reason to visit the new sustainable Plus Size boutique - LaLuxe Femme.

This gorgeous linen skirt has a pouf and pockets! It was the perfect selection for the day and the moment I laid it out (two weeks in advance) I knew it.

If you are local to or visiting Picton I highly recommend visiting this adorable boutique (or shopping online if further).

Up next in this series of planning.. I'll be packing for my vacation that isn't until April 17th!
