Boxing Day – eShaki

You are probably wondering why I’m still talking Boxing Day. Sorry. This is the last post in which I share my Boxing Day scores, I swear.

I’ve shown a few items in wish lists from eShakti but have yet to share my actual purchases. I actually do have several winter staples in heavy rotation already. I’m partial to their cotton jersey knit pieces for warmth and comfort and chic asymmetrical cuts.

I grabbed up this knitted cotton hoodie dress during their Boxing Day sale. Even at it’s regular $49.95 price it’s a great pick but 30% off made it an obvious steal. I plan to style it more as a tunic with my wide variety of leggings…. short hemlines feel a lot more scary at 40 than they did at 30. Who knew.

My second purchase is beyond adorable.

Hemline is a little longer and I feel like this will become a year round piece with leggings in the winter but bare legs come summer! Check it out here.

eShakti is pro at whimsical embellishments. They also have such a varied stock and come in a full size range that I legit challenge you to try and not find something you love. They add new styles daily so…. well I’ve already found like 5 more things I need immediately.

Why do I torment myself?

Anyways, here I am. Feeling extra cute in the new bird dress, about to enjoy a smoothie at our favourite local cafe, The Vic Cafe.

So what’s on your eShakti wish list? Or better yet, what’s in your cart??

XO Fabulous

Sonshine in Ottawa

I don’t really talk about my family much here on the blog, but today you get a look into that part of my life while following along on my recent adventure to Ottawa.

Recently my son, Phoenix, graduated from high school. When your one and only child makes this big step into adulthood I assure, it’s impossible to not become emotional, reflective…and a little big clingy.

Him in cap & gown, me in Eloquii (which looks to be 40% off today!)

As a single mother this gentle giant has been my best companion and the greatest sidekick for all adventures. It seemed completely fitting to organize one last roadtrip together before he moves in August for college. Since Canada is celebrating 150 years I chose Ottawa, our capital.

Creepy iconic Canadian sculpture outside the National Gallery

We spent our time visiting some awesome places, eating great food and making memories I’m going to carry with me for a long time.

National Art Gallery of Canada

Long on my list of places to visit has been the National Gallery. Since we spent many of our days together at galleries, in art classes or at my art school together it seemed fitting to go with my son.

Us arting.

I wore my new favourite maxi dress from Forever21+ and then this happened…

She was just here, I swear

You can’t plan this kind of awesome. Even a curator walking by stopped to have a laugh and congratulate me on a great photo op!

While this photo looks like a pregnancy announcement, I swear it is not .. I just love Klimt.

After a morning at the gallery and some shopping we decided we weren’t hungry enough for lunch but could some how manage enough room for this…

We had hopes of checking out the Museum of Science and Technology but it was still under construction so we chose the Museum of Nature instead. It was pretty fantastic in it’s own right!

It’s possible he’s appalled by my roots and not hungry, right?

Most magical was probably this 3 story high jellyfish. It was amazing from every angle!

So this mama is home, tired and my feet are just a wee bit sore today but I’m incredibly thankful for all the laughs and memories we just created. Hopefully we have lots of roadtrips ahead of us…
